Titanium Dentine Retention Pins in the 0.75mm size provide reliable mechanical retention for large amalgam and composite restorations where insufficient natural tooth structure remains to retain the restoration through conventional preparation features alone. Each pin is manufactured from biocompatible titanium. A significant advantage over stainless steel pins, as titanium produces minimal corrosion in the oral environment, releases no nickel ions, and is hypoallergenic for sensitive patients. The 0.75mm diameter is the most widely used size in retention pin systems, balancing retention strength against the risk of creating excessive dentine micro-cracking. The kit features the self-shearing design, the pin's coronal end is engineered to shear at a predetermined torque, preventing over-insertion and the catastrophic dentine fracturing that can occur with non-shearing pins. The self-centering tip automatically aligns the pin within the prepared pinhole, reducing the risk of off-axis placement and lateral perforation. Each pin is inserted using a matched-diameter twist drill and a slow-speed handpiece, with the drill creating the pinhole and the pin being threaded directly into the freshly cut dentine. The kit contains a complete set of pins plus the matched drill — a complete plug-and-play retention solution. Indicated for class II amalgams with extensive coronal destruction, complex composite build-ups prior to crown preparation, and any large restoration where pinhole retention is clinically justified.
