Mani Engine Reamers are stainless steel rotary reamers designed to operate in a slow speed contra angle handpiece for engine driven root canal enlargement. Manufactured in Japan by Mani Inc., these instruments combine the same 18-8 hard-fiber stainless steel and mirror finished cutting edges found in the Mani hand reamer range with an RA (right angle) latch type shank that mounts directly into any standard slow speed handpiece. The result is an instrument that delivers the efficiency of mechanical rotation while retaining the controlled cutting characteristics of conventional stainless steel.

The clinical case for engine reamers is procedural speed. Where a hand reamer requires manual quarter turn engagement followed by withdrawal, an engine reamer rotates continuously under handpiece control, enlarging the canal evenly across the working length in a fraction of the time. Mani Engine Reamers are particularly well suited to preparing calcified canals (especially at size #10 and below) and to extract compacted gutta percha or set sealer during endodontic retreatment. The hard-fiber stainless steel formulation gives the instrument sufficient ductility to flex with canal curvature without fracturing under rotational stress.

Mani Engine Reamers are available in 21mm and 25mm working lengths, in ISO sizes #15 through #80, with the size identifiable two ways: standard ISO color coding on the shank, and a corresponding number of grooves cut into the shank for tactile and visual confirmation. The grooved shank identification system allows chairside size verification even when the colored marking is obscured by sterilization residue or wear. The shank withstands repeated autoclave, dry heat sterilization, and chemical disinfection without deformation or discoloration. Single use sleeve packaging allows one handed instrument removal at the chairside, with each box containing 6 reamers of a single ISO size.
