The Dexiter Probexy CP-12 Periodontal Probe is a color-coded periodontal probe featuring bold black calibration bands at 3, 6, 9, and 12 millimeters — the most widely adopted modern periodontal calibration pattern, used in basic periodontal examination (BPE), periodontal screening and recording (PSR), and routine pocket depth charting. The 3-band geometry allows rapid visual assessment of pocket category: if the colored band is fully visible above the gingival margin, the pocket is less than 3mm (healthy or shallow); if the band is partially visible, the pocket is 3–6mm (moderate periodontal involvement); and if the band is fully submerged, the pocket exceeds 6mm (advanced periodontal disease requiring referral or active treatment). This visual coding dramatically speeds up periodontal charting compared with reading individual millimeter calibrations on uncoded probes. The probe is manufactured from medical-grade stainless steel with permanently bonded color bands that withstand unlimited autoclave cycles without fading — a critical durability characteristic that distinguishes premium color-coded probes from inexpensive imitations whose markings wash off within months. The tapered round tip allows gentle insertion into the gingival sulcus without epithelial trauma.
